symbolism of the seal's elements
The seal of SDO La Union is composed of the outer portion containing the name of the Department, written as DEPARTMENT OF EDUCATION and of the Division, written as LA UNION SCHOOLS DIVISION. The inner core of the seal contains five symbols: (1) lighted torch with rays, (2) open book, (3) chain, (4) circle/rings, (5) letter U.
LIGHTED TORCH WITH RAYS – represents the educator/teacher standing on a flatform that forms the letter “L” of La Union. It signifies the quest for knowledge and the burning desire to learn in every learner in the Province of La Union.
OPEN BOOK– represents the quest for knowledge. It also signifies the burning desire to learn in every learner in La Union.
CHAIN – signifies peace, unity, strength, and resiliency among the schools districts and clusters. The 23 chainlinks represents the 22 schools districts/clusters and the Division Office.
CIRCLE/RING – unifies all internal and external stakeholders in addressing access as well as quality in education as it captures the full light from the torch.
Letter U – represents the HANDS of the learner holding firmly the book as the source of knowledge and wisdom.
